06. PiersSeason: Angels & DemonsPlacement: 4thEdgic: CPMMan, what a journey this kid had. He is probably one of the only examples of someone going from villain to hero (and underdog) back to being a villain again. Such an arc. Piers started out on the outs of his tribe, with considerable less baggage than challenge retards Kimi & Eli and social pariah Oslo. After Kimi & Eli were taken out, Amy set her sights on eliminating Oslo's idol. Piers himself felt COMPLETELY safe due to an alliance with him/Decan/Oslo, that unfortunately Decan did not plan on abiding by. After Oslo's blindside, Piers felt himself scrambling to try to get his footing on his asshole tribe. Once the idol was rehidden, he spent literally hours trying to figure out a clue that was as simple as using google. Poor guy. Right when he was about to idol out Amy, she laid down her torch and he was carried on through the merge with her idol. At the merge, Piers decided to get himself a proactive approach by essentially deucing from his tribe (with the exception of Decan). He happily voted them out one by one and began to flip between the combating Angels, reveling in his villain status once again. At the Final 5, he even idol'd out one of the biggest players in the game- John. Unfortunately for Piers, he was toast at the Final 4 when Decan opted out of going to the finals with him. Such a great journey cut so short .

05. AnnieSeason: Four CornersPlacement: 1stEdgic: CPI think that if, at the merge, you would tell me that I would've had Annie in the top 5 of this ranking I would've lol'd a good bit. Annie is by far a completely strategic player in the canon of Good & Evil, but she was still a character nonetheless. Out of the 3 winners so far (sorry Ryan), she is definitely the most effective in the sense that she pretty much aligned with everyone in distance's reach of her and smiled at them as they were voted out. She had her devoted goat and partner-in-crime Emily by her side, and pretty much was never, ever in danger at any point. Even though she had friends on the other tribe, she steered pretty clear of them and didn't so much as wince as they were eliminated. She was hardcore, but not cold. She made getting herself in a good position and sticking there looking mindlessly easy, and for her it pretty much was. Her journey started out in the "Pandas" alliance which consisted of her, Ingrid, and Ray. She had side deals with the other 2 members of her tribe. When Aqua & Ventus merged, it's important to note that Annie wasn't really responsible for the integration of the two groups as one big alliance (the Good alliance of Henry, Taylor, Ingrid, Emily, Faith, and Annie), but she mostly sat on the sidelines and encouraged the idea. This is probably a sign of her effectiveness in getting herself in a good position. I consider the duo of Annie & Emily to be be half strategic (Annie) and half social (Emily). It was a pretty unstoppable combination that only had three or four real threats throughout the game. One of the more lulzy aspects of Annie is her absolute baffoonness in challenges. I don't think she won a single one until she accidentally won the final one due to a large number of technicalities. She constantly would be criticized by everyone in their confessionals for how worthless she was. While she was definitely the best winner in terms of strategy, she was also the absolute laziest. What a great character.

04. JohnSeason: Angels & DemonsPlacement: 5thEdgic: CPMIf you read John's confessional from season 1, he constantly says things like "I don't want to win, I know I'm going to lose". These little tidbits were sprinkled amongst pages and pages of strategizing/worrying. This kind of sums up the fact that John was invested and wanted to win, he just was incredibly afraid he wasn't going to and that he would look like a bumbling fool. This can also be evidenced by John's statement just a few posts prior. John is anything but a "bumbling fool", and aside from Decan (who won) and Cassie (who eclipses him in this ranking), he was probably the most level-headed player of Season 1, and I would argue that he was the most intelligent. Something that has always made John likable is his seemingly bipolar combination of arrogance and sensitivity. John got easily into everyone's good graces at the beginning of the game, and became the epicenter of the decisions that happened. While Gregory definitely put him in a negative light at points, Gregory was essentially a shield for John and John knew this. He let Gregory get his way when it came to eliminating certain randos (like Raphael), but kept the tribe together to vote out Ariel over outsider Laela. Of the 3 in his core, he was probably the kindest to those who he might not necessarily have liked. He was the leader of the Good team. Come merge, he did 'dip out' a little bit and give Gregory the reins for those first few merge rounds (of overall pagonging of insignificant people), but the second that Gregory got blindsided- John stepped it back into high gear. I don't consider John not being in on the Grego blindside as a failure, because that's exactly what Gregory provided for him. He was even able to get the idol from Gregory. He was then able to get the Evil people back on board to vote out Michael and eliminate Cassie's goat. Simultaneously at the Final 5, he was also able to bring in Cassie to take out Piers who was the biggest threat at that point. John's only mistake was his paranoia of being blindsided at the Final 6 (which was understandable) and playing his idol. Getting idol'd out at the Final 5 was incredibly painful to watch and I do consider John the most "robbed" contestant in the series probably, because had Piers gone that round- I think there was a strong chance that John could've won.

03. EmilySeason: Four CornersPlacement: 3rdEdgic: MORPNow that I think about it, Emily definitely deserved CPP or CPM. MORP is not the way to go and I will rectify that. If I had to compare Emily to anyone in the Survivor canon, it would definitely be Lisa Whelchel or Sugar Kiper- and I don't mean that in a negative way. I've played with Emily before and her biggest struggle is always managing her heart and her head, which is definitely a journey that I can understand. I don't think that Emily wasn't playing to win, but she refuses to win unless its on the terms of the people she likes and the people she values being there right beside her. This is definitely her undoing, as Annie and Henry were both impressive as well in ways that kind of eclipsed her- even if I do think that she ran things for the majority of the game. The reason she outranks Annie is because she is a great player and a great character, while Annie only really beats her out in one of those categories. Emily was actually the only PW in the first season, so she knew my hosting style coming in and I had a lot of expectations for her. I was pretty upset to find that in her original tribe she was kind of on the outs, but luckily her consistent not-sucking really did well for her. She was generally likable in both of her pre-merge tribes, however no one ever really put a whole lot of stock into her except for Annie and Henry it seems. She was always in the majority, but was never really in "control" and kind of influenced others into making the decisions (i.e. Taylor, Henry, and Faith- the doomed Aqua members). By the merge, however, she kind of solidified the 3 "Ventus" girls as the dominant majority and barely edged a target off of her, mostly due to Faith and Quinn orchestrating that flip. Once things got settled in, she got her allies in order and kind of took a backseat until she encountered a catalyst. She let Annie take out Peter (in a very "there can only be one" kind of fashion), and right when Faith started shaking things up is when she got to the front of the line. She didn't like Faiths' commanding attitude and she was very worried about the "cunts" alliance. She wanted good people to survive, and recognizing Henry as a good person, she laid the groundwork for him to stay and Zoe/Faith to go- which they swiftly did. This is kind of the first move where Emily got bitterness thrown at her. She kind of flipped on the Henry/Taylor troupe once again when Henry found the idol. This is when Annie kind of took the dominant reins and ensured that Taylor/Henry could not get to the Final 6 because they would run off with everything. Annie/Emily had also secured Murphy a Final 3 alliance at this point. So Emily backstabbed Taylor, leaving Henry at heightened odds. Luckily Henry had an idol and was able to play it, so Emily for some reason voted out her goat Murphy (this is the one strategic decision that I don't understand). Emily was always voting emotionally while Annie was voting strategically, and that was probably her undoing. It's probable that Emily realized late that she could win against Murphy and Ingrid, and it's completely probable that she could've orchestrated for Henry and Annie to go, but it just wasn't in her nature to backstab her closest allies- something that I can definitely respect. I'm hoping she continues that strategy in All-Stars, because I think one day it might just pay off for her.

I'm very honored to get third, never ever expected that Murphy was actually Annie's goat though, I only spoke to him once the whole game and he targeted me while I just had to go with the flow as both Henry and Ingrid were immune.

I think Emily would have had a really good shot to win our season if she woulda just found the right combo of the F4 to take. I think Morgan was spot on with that write up, that Emily is a really nice person who was doing much more during the season than any of us outside of her inner-circle ever really realized. John is great as well, and I don't think anyone can doubt his contribution to the series.
