Since a lot of the PWs have died because they can't keep up with all of the alliance shifting each round, I'm going to do a game/alliance/character analysis. For future reference, this is being made during Round 6
.
Pre-Swap Gameplay
Cascade
On Cascade, an alliance was formed between Jessica/Yvette/Karla/Ian/Vincent (with Misty as a 6th) after most of them weren't online for the first challenge and afraid they'd be picked off for it. They felt pretty safe and secure, leaving Freddie/Stephenie/Perry on the outs. When Stephenie was supposed to leave after not really connecting with her tribe, she made a last ditch effort to save herself- targetting Misty (who was connected to the core by Karla) and getting Ian & Vincent on her side. She created a new alliance with the outliers (Freddie/Perry- her main two) and Vincent/Ian (who had a final 2 already). This put Vincent & Ian in the direct middle, while Jessica was lulled into a false since of power. Vincent began to become wary of the 3 girls and Ian however, and wanted to switch his true allegience to Stephenie's group. This would've resulted in a 4-4 split probably after Misty left, but the swap happened so this never came to surface.
Napa
On original Napa, Dallas/Hannah/Rosemary/Tess formed an early alliance and planned to take the game by making side alliances- one with Quincy, one with Luca/Gloria, and one with Nick. In just the first round, they got found out pretty quickly and Tess jumped ship. A new inner circle was created of Gloria/Luca/Quincy/Nick/Tess, with the first three having a final 3. They took control of the game. Beau began to get a strong friendship with Tess, and Wyatt jumped on board to eliminate one of the 3 girls in order to save his own skin after arriving late. Dallas left in a blazing fashion. The following round, Hannah was determined not to leave and began making plans to flip Tess/Beau/Wyatt (who had at this point made a final 3 deal). This almost worked, and she almost eliminated Gloria (who became a little jaded sitting on her throne). However, Wyatt did not feel comfortable immediately screwing over the people who just saved his ass, so after a retarded tribal tie, Gloria stayed and Rosemary left.
The Swap
On Belbaja, the split was pretty evident. Ian was aligned with literally everyone on his new tribe (as he was aligned with everyone pre-swap). There was a little bit of tension with the old Napa members as Wyatt/Tess had just gone against Gloria/Luca, but they stayed together as Ian (Idiotically) flipped out of paranoia to vote out Freddie.
The following round, Ian's treachery pretty much turned everyone off to him as a snake and Stephenie/Yvette began doing some massive work to gain the trust of Tess/Wyatt, seeing the weak link between the two couples. A new alliance formed between Tess/Wyatt/Stephenie/Yvette, and the joined together to blindside Gloria- who Tess & Wyatt just could not trust.
Things are a little less complex on Sonoma, mostly because Jessica kicked ass in finding the flag in the Capture the Flag challenge. Karla went MIA for some reason right when the swap happened, and was swiftly eliminated. This didn't really create any gameplay moves, but I wish she had stayed around because I think she would've gone home anyways (Vincent was pretty adament about flipping at a revote).
Now that they're having to really strategize, it seems as though Napa having the upper-hand is not a good thing. Hannah and Quincy have both made alliances with Jessica to possibly eliminate the other, giving her true power over her tribe. Hannah has also approached Perry and Vincent about eliminating Quincy as well. It seems as though Nick is just riding Quincy's coattails for now.
The Current Game
Within Belbaja
As it stands now, the alliance between Stephenie/Yvette/Tess/Beau is slowly diminishing. Stephenie has gotten very close with Luca, and doesn't want to boot him again if they go to TC. And since Luca won immunity, it is pretty much no-contest that the slimy Ian is going this round (and good riddance too). Stephenie is considering when there's only 5 of them, flipping on Tess and voting her out. Inversely, Tess/Hannah are working on creating an alliance with herself, Wyatt, Beau, Stephenie, Yvette, and Jessica- which is so fucking doomed.
Within Sonoma
As it seems right now, there is an old Napa divide of Quincy/Nick and Hannah/Beau, with all of the former Cascades sitting pretty in the middle. Vincent has slipped under the radar without being too distant (and intelligently so), and Jessica has been pretty much handed the power. This round either Nick or Perry is going, both of which I really like as MOR types of characters. I honestly have no idea what's going to happen over the next two rounds at Sonoma, but it seems the only ones who are safe are Jessica and Vincent.
The Future
It's impossible to tell what's going to happen, but I definitely see a group forming against the Tess/Beau/Wyatt/Hannah group, and I can see maybe Wyatt and Hannah escaping from the grasp of that. There are so many alliances all over the place, that it's literally impossible to tell how these things are going to turn out- essentially the outcast twist is supposed to add another dimension and to shake things up- but we've got such aggressive players here that it's not really necessary.
The Characters
Main Allies: Tess, Wyatt, Hannah
Edgic Rating: MORN
Strategy: 3
Entertainment: 6
Star-Status: 6
Odds of Winning: Low
"Survivor" Comparison: Monica Padilla
Beau pretty much alternates between 3MPH and 100MPH, and I honestly prefer him when he's under the radar. He's been away for the weekend and I feel like if he hadn't been he would be fucking screwed right now and he probably would've taken all the bullets that Hannah is getting for being proactive. I feel like he's probably going to go down with the Tess ship, and probably in a very entertaining fashion. Part of me hope he somehow accidentally stumbles into a good position just so he can fuck it up <3
Main Allies: Tess, Wyatt, Beau, Jessica
Edgic Rating: CP
Strategy: 5
Entertainment: 7
Star-Status: 7
Odds of Winning: Medium
"Survivor" Comparison: Eliza Orlins
Hannah is rootable if nothing else. She has great confessionals and she's a huge fighter, and that's what I love to see. Her parallels to Stephenie are hard not to notice, but Hannah is probably a lot more scrambly than Steph gameplay wise. That's what really sets them apart. I gave Hannah the Eliza comparison, because I feel like Hannah will be at risk to go for her entire stay here, but she is very good at scrambling and fighting her way through each Judgement. I want her to stay around, but I do feel as though her days are numbered.
Main Allies: Vincent, Jessica
Edgic Rating: OTTN
Strategy: 1
Entertainment: 7
Star-Status: 4
Odds of Winning: Very Low
"Survivor" Comparison: A very gay Silas Gaither
Like most of you, I don't really like Ian and I'm glad he's going this week and I'm glad that he'll probably lose at Purgatory too. Pre-swap I was impressed with his gameplay and, as a character he was very compelling to watch, but he shot himself in the foot by overplaying and now he's paying the consequences.
Main Allies: Vincent, Yvette, (Quincy, Hannah)
Edgic Rating: CP
Strategy: 8
Entertainment: 7
Star-Status: 9
Odds of Winning: Medium
"Survivor" Comparison: Brenda
Jessica is someone who is very perceptive and very intelligent. Her only weakness in this game is her arrogance, and that might quite possibly be her downfall. However, she has pretty much been handed the control on Sonoma just based on her likability alone. She really knows how to connect with people. However, everyone knows that she's a huge threat and I feel as though she'll be booted early merge unless she can really start coasting UTR.
Main Allies: Quincy, Nick, Stephenie
Edgic Rating: MORP
Strategy: 8
Entertainment: 7
Star-Status: 8
Odds of Winning: High
"Survivor" Comparison: Sandra
Luca is never in the position of calling the shots and he's never in the position of dictating who goes. He's not as abrasive as Sandra, but he seems to be as loyal, likable, and maneuverable. I still think that Luca has a great shot to win this game as long as he can really make sure that he's not on the forefront of these decisions. I think that this is absolutely going to be a game where all of the proactive people are taken down, and the hesitant players are going to show how much holding their cards can really be beneficial. Obviously he's one of the most (if not the most) popular players in the game based on the PW lounge, so I do hope that he kicks butt.
Main Allies: Quincy, Luca
Edgic Rating: MOR
Strategy: 6
Entertainment: 3
Star-Status: 3
Odds of Winning: Medium
"Survivor" Comparison: Michael (One World)
Nick has done essentially nothing wrong strategically up til this point. He's been absolutely loyal, but not too unlikable or too much in the spotlight to be a target. In fact, if Quincy hadn't won immunity he wouldn't even be a target right now. But I feel as though he's not being social enough to really save himself. He's the definition of a MOR player in that he makes the right decisions and is likable enough, but it's not going to be enough to get him the win. I think the only way he could win is if he 1) Survives this tribal council and 2) Goes to the end with very flaky players.
Main Allies: Stephenie, Vincent
Edgic Rating: UTR
Strategy: 4
Entertainment: 4
Star-Status: 4
Odds of Winning: Medium
"Survivor" Comparison: Brett Clouser
Perry is absolutely one of my favorites this season, and it's a very random favorite, but there's something about him that's just so rootable. He is definitely an UTR player who isn't doing anything exciting- but with a group of overplayers, that just might give him a win. It's possible he'll go this round just because of his UTR status, but I honestly doubt that's what's going to happen. He's very underrated when it comes to challenges and general strategic/social ability, so it'll be interesting how he'll react to a merge game.
Main Allies: Luca, Nick, Jessica
Edgic Rating: CP(P)
Strategy: 9
Entertainment: 7
Star-Status: 8
Odds of Winning: High
"Survivor" Comparison: Rob Cesternino
When Quincy was cast, he was promised to me to be a very capable, awesome player- and boy did he deliver. Quincy has probably emerged as the strongest triple threat in the game. He keeps his head calm and he makes tolerable decisions, without coming across as very arrogant at all. He doesn't underestimate his opponents, or his allies, and he has a strong head on his shoulders. If Quincy won, I would definitely consider him (probably) the best winner of the series, but like Jessica, he seems to have a HUGE bounty on his head.
Main Allies: Yvette, Perry, Luca, (Tess, Wyatt)
Edgic Rating: CPP
Strategy: 7
Entertainment: 7
Star-Status: 8
Odds of Winning: High
"Survivor" Comparison: Rafe (Guatemala)
After making an attempt to get a lot more male All-Stars this time around, it seems we are definitely doomed to a 75% female All-Stars game. The women in this season are just really bringing it in terms of gameplay and entertainment, and Stephenie is at the top of the list. I love underdog-turned-powerplayer kind of arcs and this is exactly what Steph encompasses. Sometimes she lets her head get too big, but honestly how is she to expect all of the flipping and lying that the Tess group seems to be doing? I think she has a great shot to win this thing, as her vote is going to be essential at the merge. She's going to be the one to watch.
Main Allies: Wyatt, Beau, Hannah, (Stephenie, Yvette)
Edgic Rating: OTTN
Strategy: 3
Entertainment: 8
Star-Status: 8
Odds of Winning: Low
"Survivor" Comparison: Jerri Manthey
Man, Tess is probably the most outrageous character of the season in terms of likability/gameplay. She's not OTTN in the way that Ian is, but she's just a huge villain and I think that Jerri Manthey is a great representation of that. Tess is a black widow (not trying to be racist lawl), but not in Parvati terms, but more in the 'raw' Natalie Bolton kind of way. She's definitely entertaining to watch, and I'm excited to see her downfall.
Main Allies: Jessica, Ian, Stephenie, Perry
Edgic Rating: MOR
Strategy: 9
Entertainment: 3
Star-Status: 4
Odds of Winning: Medium
"Survivor" Comparison: Alex Bell
Vincent is someone who has shown that he very good at strategy. He has played near-perfect this entire game, and none of it has really been on accident. He also seems to gravitate toward the people I like, which is an added bonus, but he is just SO. FUCKING. BORING. I would love it if he steps up, but unless he wins, I can't see myself bringing him back to play.
Main Allies: Beau, Tess, Hannah, Stephenie/Yvette
Edgic Rating: MOR
Strategy: 6
Entertainment: 4
Star-Status: 5
Odds of Winning: Medium
"Survivor" Comparison: Erinn Lobdell
Wyatt is generally likable, and he's a good player, but like Vincent he's been pretty boring so far and he aligns himself with pretty harsh individuals. I think that it's possible when the time is right, he'll jump ship and he'll know when, but I can't see him winning unless he's in a final 3 with people who have pissed of the jury or aren't as impressive. He's very MOR, but has SO much potential to be otherwise come-merge. We'll just have to see.
Main Allies: Stephenie, Jessica, (Wyatt, Tess)
Edgic Rating: MORP
Strategy: 6
Entertainment: 5
Star-Status: 6
Odds of Winning: Medium
"Survivor" Comparison: Taj Johnson
Yvette has erupted as probably the most pleasant surprise of the season. She started out incredibly boring on a tribe where she thought she was secure, and the second she realized she was in danger she really went into full-gear. Her alliance with Stephenie is probably my favorite of the season (and possibly of the series), and a final 3 of Stephenie/Yvette/Perry would probably be the most awesome (and it would give me the chance to have someone CPP, MORP, and UTRP in a final 3 <3). I think Yvette has strong potential to really do damage in this game- but I know that a lot of the time her emotions REALLY get to her- and I think that could possibly be her downfall.
I like all 3 of these guys, and I'm not sure who would be the best returnee- but I think they could all add an interesting dynamic. Gloria would definitely come in guns blazing, ready to fuck shit up, but I feel as though her time has kind of passed. Freddie wants to be a great player, but he didn't really live up to that pre-merge. Adam has been so disconnected he's really a wildcard as to how he's going to perform. It should be interesting nonetheless.
